Alana Rule

Alana Rule is a Black cisgender woman originally from the DMV area. Currently, she is a predoctoral extern in her fourth year of clinical psychology Ph.D. studies at The George Washington University. She obtained her B.A. in psychology from Wake Forest University and her M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Alana believes that therapy is the catalyst to change. She works to create a safe, honest, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can gain the necessary tools to be informed observers of their own internal processes, and as such, break free from what weighs them down. Alana is committed to using a collaborative approach in her therapeutic relations and believes it is important to always meet the client where they are. She aims to honor the unique identities her clients may hold, including but not limited to race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender expression, religion, socioeconomic status, etc. Alana is predominately trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and has received training in treating mood disorders including anxiety and depression as well as suicidal behaviors. She also has experience integrating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational interviewing, and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). Alana can also provide couples therapy and is in the process of obtaining Gottman Level 1 Training.

When she is not working, Alana enjoys traveling, going to the movies, working out on her peloton, and hanging out with her friends whom she considers family.
